Record stores all over the country today were filled with free live performances, special vinyl releases and celebrity guest appearances. Record store day 2012 was upon us and London seemed to be the best place to enjoy it. When having a peek at the events list only one thing stood out for us, Fair Ohs.
Eddy Frankel (vocals/guitar), Matt Flag (bass) and Joey Ryan (drums) started out as a hardcore thrash band called Big Fucking Deal, after a few name changes they settled on Fair Ohs and began throwing awesome lo-fi music at our ears. After putting out splits with amazing bands like Women, Male Bonding and Spectrals they finally decided to drop their debut full-lenght album Everything is Dancing.
The East London surf rock trio played at Flashback in Angel earlier today, a small record store filled with plenty of character and a shit load of incredible vinyls.

The band played an array of boner jams that got everyone moving and their energy was more contagious than an STD. When the indian strings at the beginning of ‘Everything is dancing’ were played the small crowd lost their shit.
In between songs they interacted with the audience and vise versa. You could appreciate the beauty of seeing a band in small space rather that in an arena filled with thousands of people. We could feel and see every chord, every lyric and every playful rift.
The threesome also released a limited Record Store Day 7inch called ‘A Tribute To Paul Westerberg’ which features covers of two Westerberg songs. On side A, ‘Waiting for Somebody’ and on side B, ‘Dyslexic Heart’.
Fair Ohs were extremely entertaining and exciting live and were as funny and friendly off stage as they were on. Many call them tropical punk pioneers, we just call them fucking RAD.
